A MASSIVE £52,000 was raised over the weekend at this year’s Midsummer Beer Happening.
More than 6,000 enthusiastic fans of craft brewed beer, cider and ale flocked to what was the 10th anniversary of the not-for-profit event. The running total of monies raised for local charities now stands at some £177,000.
The delighted organisers stated: ”We really couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our 10th birthday than with what was, essentially, a three-day party with thousands of people just having so much fun!
”We always hoped that for our 10th anniversary we would pass the £150,000 milestone for funds raised. We simply didn’t expect to smash it by this much!”
They added: ”Stonehaven’s Men’s Shed, Stonehaven Sea Cadets, Stonehaven Youth Football Club and the town’s Rhythm Nation Dance And Fitness, made up of local children who share a passion for dance and friendship will receive £10,000 each.
”These are all great organisations who make a huge difference to lives in Stonehaven for people of all ages and from all walks of life. We are delighted to be able to help them with their tireless work for the community.
” In addition, the Happening will be able to gift £2,000 to Stonehaven Cycling Club, £2,000 to Stonehaven Mackie FP youth rugby, £2,000 to Stonehaven Pillar Partnership and £1,000 to Stonehaven Lions club.”
