From Aberdeenshire Communications team –

Aberdeenshire Council can confirm that all 469 of its children’s playparks will be reopening on Monday, June 29.

The parks have been closed since March to prevent the spread of coronavirus through hand-to-hand contact.

Our Landscape Services staff have been busy undertaking grass-cutting and carrying out safety inspections of facilities across the North-east ahead of next week’s reopening which is in line with the Scottish Government’s phased return.

At this stage, any play equipment which is deemed unsuitable for use will be cordoned off or removed and we must ask that these not be used in the meantime.

We would also remind parents and children of the continued risk of transmission via surfaces and you should continue to follow public health guidance on physical-distancing and regular hand-washing when using the playparks.

If you are using the equipment, avoid touching your mouth and face, use hand sanitiser wherever possible and thoroughly wash your hands as soon as you get home.

Grass cutting is continuing in our other parks, open spaces and in our burial grounds and we are liaising with colleagues in Live Life Aberdeenshire and in Education and Children’s Services on the planned recommencement of grass cutting at our sports fields and school estate in the coming weeks.
