Final Flurry of Top Up Grants from Area Committee

FROM resurfaced tennis courts to litter pickers for schools, a range of groups and projects in Stonehaven is recommended for funding from the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee Budget.

Next Tuesday’s area committee meeting is the last chance for our councillors to allocate funds from their £80,000 top up pot for 2020/21.

The projects seeking funding are:

•Stonehaven Business Association – £3,000.00 towards the sponsorship of a CLAN lighthouse at the plainstones

•Stonehaven Tennis Club – £8,000.00 towards the cost of re-surfacing three tennis courts,

•Stonehaven Thistle Cricket Club – £2,130.00 towards new wicket and bowler run-up covers

•Mearns FM-£1,730.00 to purchase additional software and a computer

•Portlethen Town Association – £2,000.00

•Mearns Coastal Heritage (MERCHAT) – £1,351.00 towards two coastal pathway projects

•Stonehaven& District Community Council – £5,000.00 to help expand and upgrade the network of Public Access Defibrillators within the town

•Aberdeenshire Council Waste Services – £1,840.80 to purchase 100 litter pickers that can be used by all schools throughout Kincardine and Mearns.

•Stonehaven Recreation Grounds – £8,000.00 towards repair and maintenance items and works.

If all the funding applications are agreed, there will be a residual balance of £1715 which will go to our area manager to distribute to the area’s larders.
