GORDON Ritchie was appointed today as Deputy Lieutenant of Kincardineshire.

The position of the Lord-Lieutenant is an honorary one and non-political. He organises official Royal visits to the county by any member of the Royal Family and ensures that the Royal Household is kept aware of local events and issues in Kincardineshire and in particular of any notable achievements by people in the county.
The current Lord Lieutenant is Mr Alastair Macphie, who was appointed last year and who also appointed Dr Ewan Clark as Deputy.
Mr Ritchie has served as Clerk to the Lieutenancy since 1996. The retired solicitor was a founder of Stonehaven Heritage Society and is a trustee of the Tolbooth Museum. A keen motorsport fan, he also is secretary of the Grampian Forest Rally.
