STONEHAVEN’S Rhythm Nation Dance School’s bid for premises at Spurryhillock comes before the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee when it meets tomorrow.
Planners have recommended councillors grant permission for the change of use application that attracted 59 letters of support along with the backing of Stonehaven and District Community Council.
The unit sits within an industrial estate which policy says should be safeguarded for employment uses. However in their report, planners say the proposal is of a small scale which would not significantly reduce the designation of business uses on the industrial estate.
They state: ”The proposed use would be of benefit to the local community in that it would provide the opportunity for children to attend dance classes at a permanent location, whereas currently a number of facilities are rented to provide the dance classes.”
If granted, the operational hours for the dance classes would be 5.30pm-9.30pm weekdays. No classes are currently run on the weekends.
The agenda for tomorrow’s meeting, along with the full report on this planning application are available online – as is a link to a live strea of the meeting, which will be held via Microsoft Teams.
