Round UK Sailor Reaching Stonehaven

By Jane Cruickshank / August 31, 2021

A SOLO yachtsman who is circumnavigating the UK to raise money for charity should shortly be berthing in Stonehaven.

Retired, Richard Kerswell is making a solo trip around Britain in his McGregor 26 yacht Pegasus to raise funds for two charities:

Give the World a Shot (80%) provides Covid Vaccines for third world countries; and Orphans in the Wild(20%) is an HIV charity for orphan, vulnerable children and foster families in the Mufindi, Tanzania  https://www.peoplesfundraising.com/fundraising/my-page-1623944303270

Richard is progressing well on his trip and is now returning after his sail to the Orkneys and Shetlands down towards the south east of Scotland.  He arrived at Banff two evenings ago and continued to Fraserburgh yesterday following on to Stonehaven today.

Marion Gough MBE of Orphans in the Wild said: ”This is a brave, adventurous journey for someone by himself, we are trying to spread this news not only for interest but to help this important fundraise.”

Awesome to see someone circumnavigate the UK and actually taking in Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Hebrides, Orkneys, and Shetland. This is hard enough, but Solo, in a small 26 foot Trailer Sailor, this is phenomenal Seamanship.
Fair winds and tides to Richard and Pegasus

Marion Gough - August 31, 2021

Thank you for your article. Richard has moored at Peterhead tonight (31/08 /21) because of high winds and rough seas. Tomorrow is forecast 7/8 winds so will stay put, he hopes to move onto Stonehaven Thursday.
