MACKIE FP Rugby Club’s bid for an asset transfer of land at Forest Park under the Community Empowerment Act is one of the first items on the agenda for Stonehaven and District Community Council – when they meet in the former courthouse on Tuesday evening.

With the amount of interest shown in these proposals, the meeting is expected to be well attended both in person and via Teams using the online link (see below). Chairman Bill Watson always works hard to keep SDCC meetings running tightly to their agenda – so he will undoubtedy be keeping a close eye on his watch while representatives for the Rugby Club and residents take the floor for their alloted five minutes.

The proposed use of the land is to construct two rugby pitches to SRU competition standard, training area, clubhouse, changing rooms, storage and fitness suite. The proposal will also include the car park but exclude the ‘Hamish’ play park.

Meanshile residents opposing the scheme have been vociferous on both social media and in the press – a public meeting was also held in the Scout Hut.

An ongoing public consultation on the asset transfer ends on November 12.

Many other items of interest

At their meeting, members will also hear a presentation on the recent planning application for a visitor centre at Dunnottar Castle. And the long awaited traffic management review of Stonehaven is up for discussion, along with an update on SDCC’s campaign to save the Invercarron Resource Centre – and more.
