International Men’s Day, in Stonehaven, was marked by the award of the second place trophy in the Scottish Men’s Shed Association (SMSA) Shed of the Year 2021.
The trophy, in the form of a targe, was presented by the Chairman of the SMSA, David Gardner. Peter Cooper of the Stonehaven & District Men’s Shed (SDMS) accepted the award, on behalf of all the Shedders who worked so hard during the last year, despite Covid restrictions, to make this happen. The Shed also thanks the people of the town who voted for them in the closing stages. Stonehaven ranked a very close second to the Westhill Shed who ranked first and was followed by the Aboyne Shed who came 3rd

The photo below shows the award, in targe form.
The Shed was also visited this week by Pamela Yuce, Community Champion from Aberdeen Beach Asda who arrived with a box of goodies to mark the Shed’s achievement in achieving 2nd place in the SMSA Shed of the Year 2021. The box was accepted by Andy Lorimer, Vice Chairman of SDMS on behalf of the Shed. The box contains all the biccies, cakes, tea and coffee we need for a few days (arrhummmm). Andy gave Pamela a tour of the Shed and facilities and Pamela was quite happy to sit with the guys as they had their “fly cup” in the morning. So a big thank you to Asda for the recognition, and the goodies!
So, all in all, a notable International Men’s Day in Stonehaven for your local Shed and Shedders.
