Voice Your Choice – get ready to vote for improved sport and leisure infrastructure in Stonehaven Participatory Budgeting Process

The local community has provided a range of ideas on how Live Life Aberdeenshire can use £1.8 million to improve sports and leisure infrastructure in Stonehaven. Following input and feedback from community groups seven options are now ready to progress to a vote. You told us your ideas, now have your say on how the money is spent.

Voting fortnight is from Monday, February 7 – Monday, February 21.

The seven options are: 

  • an additional outdoor covered multi-use sports area at the leisure centre; 
  • upgrade to the gym, fitness, dance areas, changing and toilets at the leisure centre; 
  • funding to support additional multi-use space within Stonehaven Recreation Grounds;
  • funding to support a covered tennis facility at Stonehaven Recreation Grounds;
  • improvements to the skate park area including seating and lighting; 
  • upgrade to the outdoor space within Stonehaven Recreation Grounds to incorporate challenge putting, petanque and quoits, 
  • A PAMIS (Promoting A More Inclusive Society) changing area within the Stonehaven Leisure Centre.

Taking part is easy – visit our online engagement portal, see more information about the options and cast your vote at: https://engage.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/lla-stonehavenpb . You can also look out for posters and leaflets around the town – scan the QR code to find out more. There will also be a stall dedicated to the Participatory Budgeting process at the Farmers Market on Saturday, February 5. From February 7-21 displays showing the options can be viewed during opening hours at Stonehaven Leisure Centre and at Stonehaven Library. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and assist with the vote process if required.

You can get assistance at any time, but we also have sessions with dedicated staff there to help:

  • Tuesday, February 8: 1400-1800 at Stonehaven Library
  • Wednesday, February 9: 1000-1200 at Stonehaven Recreation Grounds
  • Saturday, February 12: 0900–1200 at Stonehaven Leisure Centre
  • Wednesday, February 16: 1100–1700 at Stonehaven Library
  • Thursday, February 18: 1000–1600 at Stonehaven Library

Once votes are counted, the winning project or projects will be announced. Please Voice Your Choice and encourage family and friends to do so too.

7 options???!!!!
There is only one option and that’s improve our leisure centre that was built in 1985 with the viewing area to the swimming pool built at the deep end and had ZERO investment since it was built!!!
Locker and changing rooms need gutted!!
New games hall built on the side with storage for all the clubs equipment.
Extend the gym area build a hall for fitness classes/ yoga/ dance classes. The list goes on.

£1.8m is catch up money that should of been spent 20 years ago!!
Get real Live Life Aberdeenshire and get it right for Stonehaven.

All the other ideas are great and should be supported with other funding Sport Scotland, The National Lottery, Tennis Scotland etc.
