New Report Gives Insight Into Council Projects

By bellmannews / February 6, 2022

When the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee meets on Tuesday morning, one report they will consider is a mid-year update on progress made in relation to projects/actions within the Kincardine andMearns Area Plan.

The report is a reminder that an important part of a councillor’s job is to scrutinise existing policies and service delivery – it is designed to allow our representatives to, ”monitor progress of delivery of the council priorities within the Kincardine and Mearns area, providing a balanced overview allowing elected members to form a judgement on performance and support improvement as required in line with the scrutiny remit of the Committee.”

Interesting update on local work/projects

This is the first report produced in this manner for the area committee. And it makes for an iteresting read if you want to know what’s going on in and around Stonehaven. For instance, the apparently stalled project to build 91 affordable housing units at Ury Estate – according to this report, a Registered Social Landlord, RSL, will take forward the delivery of the affordable housing with a Spring 2022 site start.

Those looking for improvements to our roads and pavements will see a raft of work must be underway in the Roads Department, who have until the end of March to complete develop and deliver programmes of road maintenance and improvement works.

Meanwhile, walkers and cyclists may be interested to learn progress is being made on a multi-use path from Stonehaven to Aberdeen which should be complete by March 2023. The preferred route on the section of the route between Marywell and Portlethen is currently being developed. Consultants have been engaged to develop the designs.

And at report item 3.18 there is an update of the flood prevention works at the Carron.

The Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee meet by Skype on Tuesday morning at 10am. The full report is available online as agenda item 9c – along with the other agenda item reports and a link to join the meeting.
