STONEHAVEN and District Community Council are hosting a special meeting tomorrow night (Tuesday February 22) to to discuss future Local Development Plans and Local Place Plans – a link below allows you to join the meeting.
Having been through an extensive period of consultation, including the publication of a Main Issues Report and a Proposed Local Development Plan, the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan 2022 is being examined by the Scottish Government’s Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals (DPEA) and it is hoped to be adopted later this year.
Meanwhile the legislation behind the Local Development Plans issued by local authorities every five years has changed with the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019. Aberdeenshire’s next Local Development Plan will be prepared on a timetable that will see its adoption in or before 2027.
Looking ahead for Stonehaven
Local Place Plans are a new type of plan giving communities an opportunity to develop proposals for the development and use of land in the place where they live. It is intended that LPPs will stimulate and encourage debate about the future of a place, enabling communities to focus on their aspirations as well as their needs.
Planning officers of Aberdeenshire Council will attend the meeting to present on these matters and answer any questions. The meeting will start at 7pm.
