HELP FOR REFUGEE CHILDREN AND ADULTS
HOW CAN YOU HELP? FILL A ROTARY SHOEBOX
Stonehaven Rotary Club has 500 shoeboxes which we hope with the support of people in Stonehaven will all be filled to go out to be distributed to the refugees. We ask for a £2 coin to be attached to the box to help cover transport costs.
HOW DO I GET A BOX?

Boxes can be collected from me from Tuesday to Friday of this week. I will be parked in the purple car outside the South Church in Cameron Street from 10am-12 noon each morning.

LAST DATE FOR RETURN OF THE BOXES

We need to have a quick turn round on the boxes so that we meet the deadline for their collection. The last date for returning the boxes is Monday 4 April as we have to arrange to transport them to Dyce Carriers who deal with their onward transportation to the charity warehouse in Oldham. We have an arrangement to store the filled boxes in the South Church Hall in Cameron Street.

WHY ROTARY SHOEBOXES?

Rotaryshoebox.org is a UK registered not for profit charity with no paid employees.
The purpose is to spread a little happiness to disadvantaged children and adults in Eastern Europe by dispatching Rotary Shoeboxes full of gifts to trusted partners for distribution in the receiving country.
The position in the Ukraine is tragic. At present the charity has a container of 11,220 boxes dispatched to Odessa Ukraine several weeks ago that was unable to be delivered as the port was closed due the invasion and is now in Istanbul. They are arranging it to be transferred to Romania as soon as possible to help with refugee support. In the warehouse they have another batch of 11,000 boxes ready to be dispatched to Moldova when safe transport can be arranged.
They plan on continuing support to their distributers in Romania and Moldova and are in regular contact with them as they have been working with them for a great many years.
At least 50% of the refugees from the Ukraine are children who left with their mothers. They have left most of their belongings in the Ukraine.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Stonehaven Rotary Club aims to try very hard to ensure we reach our target of 500 boxes.
Please support us to fulfil this aim for such a worthwhile cause.
