A PROCLAMATION read in the Market Square tomorrow at 2pm will launch Stonehaven’s participation in national and international celebrations of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
There will be a chorus of town criers around the country, all reading the specially written proclamation, announcing the lighting of beacons on mountains, village greens and cliff tops across the land later in the evening.
As Stonehaven’s beacon is at Dunnottar Castle, John Cruickshank, who is acting town crier for the day, will go on up to the castle for a second rendition of the proclamation at approximately 2.30pm.
The evening’s festivities organised by Dunecht Estates start at 7pm. Before the lightling of the beacon by the Lord Lieutenant for Kincardineshire Mr Alastair Mcphie, there will be music from the RGC Pipe Band – who will play ”Diu Regnare”, a tune penned for the historic Jubilee. And the Lathallan singers will perform ”A Song for the Commonwealth”.
All performances are timed to ensure, ”voices around the globe joining in celebration.”
