From Sarah Houston –

Staff and volunteers at Stonehaven’s Far and Wide charity shop were recently delighted to host a visit from the Bishop of Swaziland and the Bishop of Brechin and to donate £1000 to Swaziland projects.

The Right Reverend Dr Dalcy Dlamini, Bishop of Swaziland, Eswatini, Anglican Church of Southern Africa, along with local Episcopal Bishop, the Right Reverend Andrew Swift, Bishop of Brechin, were among those who visited the Far and Wide shop and foodbank to see the facilities, and to meet some of the staff and volunteers.

‘Far and Wide has been supporting our local community and overseas mission for nearly thirty years,’ says Barbara Maclean, Far and Wide’s project co-ordinator.

‘We can only support projects like these through the incredible generosity of people in and around Stonehaven who donate their pre-loved items to the shop, and because of our amazing volunteers who not only work tirelessly in the shop, serving customers, but also those who collect and sort all the donations as they come in.’

Far and Wide has supported the Diocese of Swaziland (Eswatini) projects many times over the years including local food and healthcare provision, helping subsistence farmers develop new crops and livestock and supporting young Swazi people in education.

Bishop Andrew added, ‘It was very heartening to visit and see all the work that Far and Wide are doing in Stonehaven and area – the impact on the local and global community from this Christian project cannot be overstated.  Bishop Dalcy and I were delighted to visit and meet the team, and I pass back Bishop Dalcy and all in the Diocese of Swaziland’s thanks for the generous donation.’
