From Graeme Stuart –

Stonehaven Youth Cala vs Donside U16 Girls – 1st October 2022

Cala returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory over a young Donside team at the weekend. From kick-off the home team went straight on the attack and the early pressure was rewarded with a 2nd minute opener from Kirstin Alves. This settled any early nerves and from there Stonehaven took control and passed the ball about with confidence. Becca Milne caused Donside a number of problems, in a more advanced position than usual, and helped herself to 4 goals in a 1st half which finished with Abbie Reid netting from close range off of a well worked corner.

HT Stonehaven Cala 6-0 Donside

A number of half-time changes disrupted the flow for a spell and Donside started to come into the game. They were awarded a penalty early in the 2nd half following a rash challenge by Foubister, which was duly converted to get them on the score sheet.  Milne then restored the 6-goal advantage with the pick of the goals. Donside continued to battle hard and again reduced the deficit, taking advantage of some hesitancy in the Cala defence. In the final quarter of the game goals from triallist Hannah Patterson before Alves brought the game to a close in the the same way she started it with a smartly taken last minute finish.

This is a great way to advertise the girls football and it would be great to get some new fans along! We have a tea and coffee stall to keep warm during matches! I’d also like the mention a very kind donation from a lady who would like to remain anonymous. She watches the girls matches from her window on a Saturday morning and loves to watch them play! The Stonehaven 16’s girls team would like to thanks her very much if she is reading!
