If you love Christmas you will be jingling your bells with joy when you find out that you can decorate your tree a whole week earlier than usual this year. Due to very popular demand, Stonehaven Scout Group’s Christmas tree sale is taking place a week earlier than it normally does, on the first Saturday in December – the 3rd.

The tree sale will be taking the same format as last year with pre-orders making up the bulk of sales and just a few being available to purchase on the day. Gregor McMurtrie, Akela for Panther Cubs is once again on the elite Christmas team of Scout elves running the event. He says that the new system where people are asked to pre-order their trees has been working really well. It makes sure that everyone gets the size of tree they want, reducing the number of unsold trees and making sure that Stonehaven Scout Group’s main fundraising event of the year is as successful as possible.

If you would like to pre-order your tree, you can do that right here, or find us on Facebook.

Funds from the tree sale are vital to the Group, they go towards keeping the Scout Hut well maintained, and much needed improvements such as new lighting and matting on the steep, previously slippery path to the campfire area. This year the plan is to improve the campfire area and include proper seating to what is currently a very ‘rustic’ set up.

The Group has bounced back from lockdowns with Beavers, two Cub packs and Scouts taking part in camps, campfires, welcoming specialist visitors, and going on field trips, including this year, not one, but two trips to the Panto – oh yes they will!!

If you would like to sign your child up to join Beavers, Cubs or Scouts, send an email to And of course, we are always looking for adult volunteers to join us too. We couldn’t give the children the Scouting experiences they enjoy so much without our amazing and hardworking, fun-loving, leaders.
