Stonehaven Golf Club Report

Stonehaven Golf Club Report w/e Saturday 31st December

The arrival of wintry weather, which closed the course in early December, brought the fixture list to a standstill until the Wednesday before Christmas when the senior gents were able to resume their 14 Hole Stableford competition. Perhaps the enforced layoff brought renewed vigour to the seniors many of whom carded healthy scores.

A number of ladies, who were obviously up to date with their Christmas shopping, played in the Winter League competition on the 22nd recording some excellent scores. The 12 Hole Winter League is played from November to the end of March and the winner is the player with the highest total points gained over 10 best rounds.

The competition is intensifying in both the Gross and Nett Gents’ Winter League Doubles with the pairings switching places from one week to the next and it’s great to see a new name top the Singles’ leaderboard. Neil MacArthur’s current strong form continues culminating in him winning the annual Festive Hack held on Wednesday with a remarkable 35 points over 14 holes. Duncan Mcrae won nearest the pin on the 15th, Catherine Duncan won the prize for best lady and Josh Killoh won the prize for best junior.

Happy New year to you all from Stonehaven Golf Club and we look forward to seeing you out on the course in 2023!
