From Amey press office-

Amey is undertaking a £800,000 project delivering two road surface improvement schemes back to back on the A90 near Stonehaven.

Resurfacing will be carried out consecutively on more than 1300 metres of the A90 travelling northbound between Friday 24th February and Sunday 5th March.

The first scheme will improve approximately 680 metres of the northbound A90 carriageway between the A92 on slip road at Dunottar and 160 metres south of the railway bridge.

The second scheme will resurface a further 680 metres of the northbound carriageway to 90 metres south of the off slip for Spurryhillock Industrial Estate.

The resurfacing project, which Amey is carrying out on behalf of Transport Scotland, will benefit up to 15,000 vehicles who use this route each day.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the work will be undertaken using a contraflow system.

Lane closures will be in place from 7.30pm on Friday 24th February to 3am on Saturday 25th February to allow the contraflow to be set up, with resurfacing work set to commence from 3am on the Saturday.

Work is scheduled to be completed by 7.30pm on Saturday 4th March. Further lane closures will be in place overnight to allow the contraflow to be stood down, with traffic management scheduled to be removed by 6.30am on Sunday 5th March.

The following closures/diversions will be in place throughout the construction programme:

  • The A92 northbound on-slip to join the A90 will be closed, with traffic diverted through Stonehaven via the A957 – Dunnottar Avenue – Bridgefield – Allardice Street – B979 to join the A90 or A92 northbound at the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) Junction.
  • Traffic from Montrose on the A92 will have the option to turn left onto the B967 at Inverbervie and join the A90 at Fordoun to travel through the contraflow and onwards towards Aberdeen.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
