Stonehaven Golf Club entered a ladies’ and a gents’ team in the Kincardine and Deeside Pennant Competition held at Braemar Golf Club on July 2nd.

The ladies made a valiant effort and despite having the same score as the winning club, Aboyne, were placed second overall by virtue of a countback. The gents’ team also played well to finish third equal and only 3 strokes behind the winners, the host club Braemar.

After his son, Craig, won the Club Championship two weeks ago, Neil Irvine is well placed with a gross 66 after the first round of the Senior Gents Championship. The final two rounds take place on Wednesday and Friday of this week.

With heavy showers skirting the course, the weather gods shone on the course on Sunday for the Ruby Stephen Mixed Foursomes which the players, amazingly, completed without a soaking. In a close competition Rose Riddell and Ross McAllan (pictured with the Ruby Stephen Goblets) were victorious with a nett 65.

A squad of Stonehaven Juniors played at Peterculter Golf Club on Sunday in the Golf Sixes League. Playing against Aboyne, Banchory, Peterculter and Westhill, the Stonehaven team, which was one player short, played extremely well to come a close second to Aboyne.

The next fixture is on Sunday 6th August at Westhill. Well done to all!
