STONEHAVEN seems to be enjoying a spell in the spotlight, with a succession of film units and appearances on tv – and more on the way.

In June the town was treated to a visit from Sky Arts with their Landscape Artist of the Year show, with the contestants using both the harbour and Dunnottar Castle as inspiration for their works.

Then last week, a unit from BBC’s Escape to the Country was in town filming a segment for their long-running show helping home owners relocate – this time to rural Aberdeenshire.

Meanwhile those enjoying Michael Portillo’s series Great Coastal Railway Journeys would have been glued to their tv screens last night when he visited St Andrews and Dundee before heading to Stonehaven. This show is still available on catch up.

Road closure for filming next Thursday

Now, film cameras are poised to return on Thursday August 3 from and will be using the section of road between Dunnottar Lodge and Redcliff, prompting a road closure from 8am to noon.

No diversion is available there will be local access only and emergency and pedestrian access will be maintained. Vehicular access to affected properties will be maintained whenever possible.
