Stonehaven Golf Club Report w/e Sunday 30th July 2023

After three closely contested rounds in the Senior Gents’ Championships, Neil Irvine and Alan Cruickshank (pictured) finished tied on 212. The matter was settled with an 18 hole play-off on Wednesday, resulting in Neil retaining his scratch title, with a gross 69. Gary Brown was 3rd with an aggregate of 217. Alan Cruickshank won the Seniors’ Handicap Championship, with an aggregate score of 193. Gary Brown was 2nd (195) and John MacFarlane (198) was in 3rd place.

The Seniors enjoyed a glorious day in the sun for their annual outing, this year to Banchory Golf Club. The Crabbit Cup went to John Currie (39 pts), winner of the Stableford competition, with Brian Andrew (37 pts) in 2nd place, with a better inward half from Harry Roulston (37 pts) who came third. The Par 3’s prize, for best nett aggregate, was won by Bob Denholm with 14 pts. Nearest the Pin (3rd) was won by John Findlay and Longest Drive (15th) was won by Graeme Wilson.

Congratulations to junior member, Molly Skidmore, who won the Jean Law Salver for the best nett score of 66 at the North of Scotland Girls’ Championship at Arbroath on Monday. Well done Molly!
