Motion Praising Horizon’s Work

Dear Sir,

Tess White MSP would like to congratulate Stonehaven Horizon on recently being awarded a Certificate of Recognition at the Beautiful Scotland awards.

As a way to recognise and celebrate this success, Tess has submitted a Parliamentary motion to the Scottish Parliament praising the ongoing work of everyone involved.

The motion submitted is detailed below:

Recognition for Stonehaven Horizon

That the Parliament congratulates Stonehaven Horizon on being awarded a Certificate of Recognition at the Beautiful Scotland awards for its efforts to improve, enhance and protect biodiversity in the local community; notes that the Horizon Project now has around 50 volunteers, tending to over 200 floral displays throughout the local area; recognises that the Stonehaven Horizon project won the Beautiful Scotland Discretionary Year of Stories Award in 2022, for which the Mearn’s Writers, a local writing group, chronicled the town’s much-loved characteristics to form a walking tour leaflet for visitors; notes that, in 2021, the Stonehaven Horizon project also won the Haddington 700 Award for its Burns Memorial Garden restoration project, created in memory of Rabbie Burns, who had links to Stonehaven; applauds the ongoing hard work and commitment of volunteers who generously give their time to keep Stonehaven flourishing, and wishes Stonehaven Horizon every success going forward.

You can find a link to the motion on the Scottish Parliament website here: https://www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/votes-and-motions/S6M-10536

Tess would like to pass on her best wishes to everyone involved.

Yours etc

I totally agree with this award. Horizon have proved themselves to be proactive, forward thinking and very well organised with their plans to deliver crucial biodiversity within our community. We, at Friends of Forest Park Drive, are so very grateful for their contribution of pollinator-attractive bulbs/seeds for our park and we can’t wait to get started on our plans to transform our park with these vital resources.
