Lane two closure to operate during essential A90 AWPR/B-T works south of
A90 Stonehaven Roundabout to the B979 / A90 Signalised Junction
A traffic management system is being implemented on the B979 south of A90 Aberdeen Western
Peripheral Route/Balmedie-Tipperty (AWPR/B-T) trunk road at Stonehaven from Monday 9 October
for essential utility connection works.
A lane two closure will be in operation on the southbound B979 between the A90 Stonehaven
Roundabout and the signalised B979/ A90 junction. Traffic management is being installed from
Monday 9 October before work commences.
Temporary Traffic Signals will be in place at the B979 / A90 junction to replace the permanent signals
to control temporary traffic movements at the junction. The works are due to be completed on
Saturday 21 October.
An Aberdeen Roads Limited spokesperson said:
“These works are required to carry out an essential utility connection. Due to the nature and
specifications of the works, they cannot be started or finished within either a normal off-peak or an
overnight period.
“With these temporary changes to the road layout in mind, we would ask road users to drive with
more caution than usual and to observe all signage and the temporary traffic signals for their own
safety, as well as for the safety of other road users, pedestrians and the construction workforce.
“Road users who would normally use this route should plan their journeys in advance so they can reach
their destination safely and on time. We would like to thank road users and the local community for
their patience and support during these works.”
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for
up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey. Details on the works can be
found on the Aberdeen Roads Limited website
