MSP Tess White presented a certificate to Daniel Veltman today after submitting a motion to Parliament congratulating him on his recent fundraising efforts with colleagues at Stonehaven Co-op.
The Co-op has partnered with Barnardo’s children’s charity. Staff at Stonehaven Co-op held a fundraising day on the 25th August to raise money – featuring an eight-hour sponsored silence by Daniel.
Ms Whyte’s motion was submitted to Parliament on the 6th September, it reads:
Fundraising Success for Stonehaven Co-op
That the Parliament congratulates Daniel Veltman and the Stonehaven Co-op branch on raising £830 for Co-op’s charity of the year, Barnardo’s; understands that the Co-op Group has partnered with the children’s charity to raise £5 million to support 750,000 young people aged 10 to 25 by ensuring access to basic needs such as food, helping them manage their mental wellbeing, and providing better opportunities for their future; acknowledges that, as part of the fundraising event on 25 August 2023, Daniel Veltman took part in an eight-hour sponsored silence raising £673, while colleagues ran a bottle stall and staff members dressed as superheroes, raising a further £157; understands that this partnership aims to deliver innovative new services to communities that are most in need, and to establish a youth advisory group to ensure that support is targeted to best meet the needs of young people within these communities; applauds the staff at the Stonehaven store for their fantastic support of Barnardo’s children’s charity, and wishes everyone involved every success in their charitable efforts going forward.
