An Aberdeenshire home care team has been praised for providing an excellent service, and promoting a positive culture of inclusion amongst staff.

The South Care at Home Service is provided by Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership, and received a grading a top grading of five, following an unannounced inspection from Care Inspectorate.

The dedicated team provide care for people living in the community across a broad geographic area from Marr to Kincardine & Mearns; the service supports many communities from as far afield as Huntly to Stonehaven, Braemar to Laurencekirk.

More than 40 service users gave feedback as part of the inspection and expressed very high levels of satisfaction with the care they received.

Staff were given high praise for their professionalism and the level of respect which they demonstrated when visiting people in their own home.

The glowing report also highlights that the team repeatedly go “the extra mile” to ensure they are always compassionate in their approach.

The management team also came under scrutiny, with senior members of staff described as easily accessible and on hand for support.

This has no doubt contributed towards low staff turnover, and a high level of job satisfaction was also noted.

Ashley Finnie, Home Care Manager for the south, believes the grading is a fitting accolade for the team.

“I am incredibly proud of each and every member of the team, from our fantastic home carers to our care team co-ordinators,” said Ashley.

“They work so hard to deliver such a wonderful service, and meet a wide range of care needs all year round.

“Our home carers see people when they may be at their most vulnerable, and go about their work with genuine compassion and immense skill.”

Location manager for South Aberdeenshire, Susan McKechnie, has also praised the team.

“The repeated feedback from service users highlighted just how happy they are with the care they’ve received, the team really does have so much to celebrate,” she said.

“Ashley is a fantastic manager and the wonderful staff culture filters down from the top.

“The team work so hard, and this report is very well deserved.”
