If you love getting out on the water and are aged between 10 and 18, join Stonehaven Sea Cadets, or if you love camping, navigating and obstacle courses and are aged between 13 and 18, join Stonehaven Royal Marines Cadets detachment, part of the Sea Cadets.

Sail dinghies out the harbour, powerboat, kayak, go offshore, achieve a BTEC or undertake your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award! With Royal Marine Cadets, experience the great outdoors with no mod cons when you camp out with your map and compass, cook your super ration pack meal over a campfire and then get your troop back to base.

Whatever you choose, there is a world of exciting challenges at Stonehaven Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets.

PO(SCC) Eilidh Paul the Unit Recruitment Officer said: “We welcome all young people to pop by the unit when we’re open and get stuck into some of the exciting activities like sailing, kayaking, powerboating, navigation, drill and orienteering that we offer.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to get to know other young people in the area and you will make some great friends, learn new skills that will give you a great head start in life and will really boost your confidence.”

70 Years of nautical adventure in Stonehaven

Stonehaven Sea Cadets opened in 1954 and recently moved to their new headquarters at the Harbour which was opened in May by HRH The Princess Royal. It has supported thousands of young people in Stonehaven to learn nautical skills, with 35 cadets currently attending, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers. However, more are always welcome.

Stonehaven, which is part of national charity Sea Cadets, gives young people a new perspective. We broaden horizons and create possibilities. Working across the UK with 14,000 young people between 10 and 18, we help them see the world with confidence, gained through the challenge of nautical adventure and a Royal Navy ethos. Our aim is to help more young people to see the future that they want – and make that future happen.

The unit is open on Monday evenings from 18:45 to 21:30 and meets at the Unit HQ on Marischal Street Visit: www.sea-cadets.org/stonehaven to find out how you can join.
