The last Stonehaven Farmers & Produce Market takes place this weekend, Saturday 7 December, 2024, from 0900 to 1300.
The “usual suspects” will be in attendance and most tastes will be catered for. Stonehaven Men’s Shed market team will be in attendance to ensure everything goes well and assisting where required in the setting up and rigging down of the market.
Granite City Fish will be there with a great selection of fresh seafoods and, attending their first market will be Stonehaven’s own Seafood Bothy with a selection of fresh shellfish that may be eaten or frozen for use closer to Christmas.
For those with a sweet tooth the Wee Brown Mouse Bakery will be there with their selection of gourmet traybakes along with Gourdon Goodies and their home made sweets. Also making a first appearance at this market will be Aunty Betty’s with a selection of seasonal goodies and maybe an opportunity to order your ice cream cake for Christmas?
On the bakery side Steve will be here from the Vegan Bay Baker and Stuart from the Lilybank Bakehouse both selling their unique lines in baked goods.
For the omnivores amongst us we are well catered for with Ingrams Home Cured Pork, and from up the back by Banchory, Grace Noble’s Highland Beef and a fine selection of venison and small game from A Taste of the Wild.
Westerton Farmers from just down the road by Laurencekirk will be there with a fine selection of seasonal vegetables locally sourced and grown without the use of sprays and chemicals.
Looking for treats for your four legged friends or other dog centric ideas? Come on down and have look at what on offer from Huntly based Train & Treat.
On the snacky side and to complement your Christmas lunches is a great selection of cheeses from the team at Newton Dee who will be manning The Cheese Bothy. Also down will be the girls from Wark Farm with a fine selection of home made pies with unique fillings. Also, if you like to finish off with a fine cuppa tea then Brian Battensby is your man with his selection of specialised teas at Cupa-Ti.
Attending his final market will be Alan McConnachie of Produce from Scotland with his specialised range of whisky decanters and a whole range of locally distilled and brewed beers, wines and spirits. Alan has been a stalwart of the Stonehaven Market scene for many years and his presence will be sorely missed as he winds down due to health and personal reasons. It’s been great Alan and we have appreciated your continued support over the years.
Our once a year guy is back with his selection of seasonal wreathes. Gordon Milne always comes in around November just to make sure that his space is booked for the final market. A selection of his wreaths is show at top of this article.
On the non-produce side there will be a stall from the Community Sports Hub where pre used clothing and other gear associated with football will be available, free of charge, to interested parties.
Bringing up the rear, well not really, because they’ve been organising the market for a couple of years now is the team from your local shed who’ve been turning and tuning their skillsets to “high tech” offerings to complement their traditional Christmas recycled wood goodies. A separate article will be posted in the Bellman to cover what’s on offer.
So, come on down to your local Farmers & Produce Market on Saturday.
We look forward to welcoming you.
