Blown Away!!

By Stonehaven Mens Shed / December 8, 2024

It was late in the day (or, actually, very early in the morning) when the Shed made the call to cancel the Stonehaven Farmers & Produce Market on Saturday 7 December 2024. The weather forecast predicted winds in the range of 30-55mph with accompanying rain. It was not a good end to 2024 for the market scene, certainly not one we would have wished for.

A number of the stallholders thanked the Shed organisers for “making the hard decisions that they, themselves, find difficult to make”. Some stallholders, who have regular customers and orders to service, came into town and located in the area of the Market Square so customers could collect get their orders and carry out some as-hoc sales.

We’d like to take this opportunity, also, to thank the people of Stonehaven who have supported the market, and by extension, the Shed over the past year. We wish all customers and stallholders a Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025. So, mark in your diaries, the next market will be held on 1 February 2025……..weather permitting!

The Market on a better day…..

On the Shed front, the very much reduced footfall on Saturday meant that our Shed Christmas sales suffered a severe setback. However, we are pleased to let you all know that the Shed has secured the North end of the Market Buildings on 14 & 21 December to display and sell the products of the Elves Workshop. Sample of traditional recycled wooden figures, toys and other “objets d’art” shown below.

Along with the traditional recycled wood and other items there will be a selection of walking poles hand crafted by “Bill” on sale. The Techie Elves have also been busy with their geek machinery and produced some wonderful Christmas themed slate coasters and personalised tree baubles as shown in the collage below.

All items shown, traditional and new, will be sold on a first come, first served, basis. Orders for the coasters and personalised “baubles” will be taken by the Shed through the messaging service on our Facebook page or in person at the Market Buildings on the next two Saturdays.

Many thanks to Stonehaven for continuing to support the Farmers & Produce Market and Stonehaven & District Men’s Shed. It really does mean a lot.
