AS ever, there is a busy agenda on the cards for Stonehaven and District Community Council when it meets in the former courthouse of the Sherrif Court Building tomorrow evening at 7pm.

Work is underway for the inflatable tennis arena which will at least in part be funded by Aberdeenshire Council following the particiapatory budget process in 2022 which saw £250,000 allocated to the project. With the Recreation Grounds on the agenda, hopefully an update may be forthcoming.

And, with the recent announcement – intended or otherwise – of library closures, Steve McQueen’s presentation on Stonehaven’s user traffic and borrowing should be of interest to those wishing to protect and preserve our local amenity.

Meanwhile, one member who diligently attends meetings of the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee is flagging her recent difficulty in getting into the building for a meeting to which the provision for public access is a statutory responsiblity of the local authority.

It is somewhat timely that an agenda item highlighting an ongoing review of conservation areas will be followed by SDCC’s discussion of the recent planning application by Mrs Julia Morton of The Haven for both planning permission and listed building consent for a public artwork at the Market Buildings. The final image is likely to feature a thistle and will be created via a collaborative process led by local artist Colin Brown.

The full agenda for the meeting is below – please note all associated reports etc are available on the SDCC website. The meeting is open to the public or can be joined online using the following link
