Four local youngsters are being called up to a national competition with the Sea Cadets.
After securing gold at the District competition, the cadets from Stonehaven Sea Cadets travelled to HMS Caledonia on March 22nd to take on competition from North East England and throughout Scotland at the Northern Area piping competition.
Cdt Summer earned a bronze medal for individual piping, while the team – consisting of Cdt 1st Jenna, Cdt Helen, and Cdt 1st Brooke – secured gold in the team competition.
The piping team will now head to HMS Raleigh in Cornwall on April 25th to represent the Northern Area at the National competition.
Leader PO Paul said: “I am incredibly proud of their commitment and dedication. They’ve worked relentlessly to refine their skills, and this remarkable achievement reflects their hard work. We’re all behind them every step of the way!”
Stonehaven Unit, which is part of national charity Sea Cadets, gives young people a new perspective. We broaden horizons and create possibilities. Working across the UK with 14,000 young people between 10 and 18, we help them see the world with confidence, gained through the challenge of nautical adventure and a Royal Navy ethos. Our aim is to help more young people to see the future that they want – and make that future happen.
The unit is open on Mondays from 1900-2130, and meets at their unit on Marischal Street. Visit: www.sea-cadets.org/stonehaven to find out how you can join.
