A Call to the Stonehaven Community to Join the Lifesaving Crew Behind the Scenes

As Stonehaven RNLI’s new station nears completion, they are now putting out a call to the community for volunteers to staff the station’s new RNLI Shop. A vital source of funding, the new shop is in urgent need of a team of volunteers.

A volunteer’s open evening will be held at the current crew shed next to the Backies car park at Stonehaven harbour on 14th May 19:00- 21:00 where current volunteers will be on hand to chat about their roles and show how easy it is to get involved.

The completion of the Stonehaven RNLI new station marks a significant milestone in the charity’s lifesaving operations on the northeast coast of Scotland. This modern facility not only enhances the capability of the volunteer crew but also hopes to strengthen the RNLI’s connection with the local community.

The new station, located on the harbour front, replaces the previous temporary crew shed and separate boat shed that had serve the town since 2013. It offers improved facilities for the lifeboat volunteers, including updated crew areas, training spaces, large boat hall and the town’s first dedicated RNLI shop, all under one roof.

Emily Hamilton-Peach, Community Manager at Stonehaven RNLI, said: “This new station is a game-changer for our crew, but it’s also a home for our community. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the RNLI, and that doesn’t just mean those going out on the water. The RNLI shop plays a huge part in keeping us afloat financially. Whether you can give a few hours a week or just want to learn more, we’d love to hear from you. Help us to keep saving lives at sea.”

The new station also brings new opportunity to its existing volunteer teams including the Operational Crew, Fundraising Group and Visits Team. If you think you may be able to support Stonehaven RNLI in any of these capacities, come and find out more.
