THE efforts of the team behind the return of the Stonehaven Road Train were recognised at the Scottish Parliament.
Scottish Green Member of the Scottish Parliament for North East Scotland Maggie Chapman, lodged a motion on Tuesday, which states:
”That the Parliament commends all those who have revitalised the Stonehaven land train, The Stoney Express, six years after its last tour; understands that this volunteer-run amusement has brought joy to both tourists and locals since 2014; recognises that this is one of several unique attractions supported by the passionate and active community in Stonehaven, including the annual Hogmanay Fireballs, the R. W. Thomson rally, and the award-winning food offering on the bay; acknowledges the contribution of the land train to the local tourist economy, and congratulates everyone involved, wishing them well with this and future activities.”
No-one from the Stoney Express was available for comment but a happy ‘toot toot’ was audible as the train bedded down for the night.
