Stonehaven & District Men’s Shed is gearing up for another exciting showcase at the town’s annual Feein’ Market this Saturday, 7 June 2025, in the Market Square.
While the Shed is well known for supporting men’s mental health and tackling loneliness, it’s also a hive of creativity, craftsmanship, and community spirit. Skilled tradesmen have long been at the heart of the Shed’s projects, bringing traditional expertise to all things woodworking and engineering (and bikes!) as well as sharing their knowledge with the guys who travelled another road.
That’s all fine and well, but, make way for the Shed’s “newest” recruits—the “geek team”! Over the winter, they’ve been busy mastering software design and laser etching technology, producing stunning creations that are ready for market. Alongside them, the CNC routing team has been crafting intricate designs, proving that high-tech craftsmanship is alive and well in Stonehaven.
Visitors to the Feein’ Market can check out the Shed’s stall, where laser-etched slate coasters featuring local scenes and Scottish motifs will be on display (and up for grabs … at a price). Other handcrafted delights include shaped and etched cheeseboards, jewellery boxes, bookmarks, and even personalized dog collar tags etche on the spot – how’s that for instant customisation?
Meanwhile, the CNC routing team will be showcasing mobile phone stands, carved trays, and a variety of knick-knacks. Although limited stock will be available on the day, custom orders may be placed for future pickup. A standout item on display will be a stunning whisky cask stave tray, designed to hold snifter glasses and a water jug atop a tartan-lined inset—Scotland in a tray!
There will also be a few light-hearted games for the kids, as well as plenty of information about the Shed’s activities and upcoming projects.
