Second Print Run Needed for Local Tale

Dear Bellman

I’m pleased to share some quite incredible news

My novel, Secrets of Dunnottar Castle, has sold out its entire first print run in just three weeks, with all 100 copies finding eager readers — many through the brilliant support of But n’ Ben Books in Stonehaven and a fantastic review from the Bellman.

Set in 1651 during one of the most turbulent periods in Scottish history, the novel offers a dramatised account of real events surrounding Dunnottar Castle — weaving together smuggled treasures, Cromwell’s forces, and a courageous young woman caught in the crossfire of loyalty and betrayal. The story brings to life the forgotten corners of our past in a way that has clearly struck a chord with readers.

The response has been incredible, and the most common question I now hear is, “When will more be available?”

I’m pleased to say that a second print run is now underway, and readers can register their interest or follow updates via the But n’ Ben bookshop or email direct to dougpaton@rocketmail.com

Secrets of Dunnottar Castle began as a passion project rooted in local history — and it’s been deeply rewarding to see it embraced so warmly by the community.

Warm regards,
