This concert is especially meaningful for him in this venue: in 2022,Christopher married his wife Therese in this very church, continuing a family tradition — his six-times-great grandfather and many generations of his family also married here.

Christopher Dominique is a Swedish jazz pianist, music producer, and bandleader celebrated for his ability to fuse jazz with folk and avant-garde traditions. For over a decade, he was a producer at the renowned Tambourine Studios, collaborating with a wide range of artists and projects. Highlights of his career include arranging an opera for the iconic punk band Bob Hund with the Malmö Opera Symphony Orchestra, composing music for Swedish theatre and television, and touring with Swedish rock star Ola Salo and indie pioneers Eggstone.
Dominique has also performed with international names such as Philly soul legend Billy Paul. In 2023, after tracing his Scottish roots, he released Jazz in Scots and toured Scotland, performing music inspired by his great-grandfather, a violinist in the BBC Variety Orchestra. Today, Dominique’s focus is on reviving the nearly forgotten folk music of Småland. His ongoing project, Jazz ex Smolandia, presents these traditional songs in a modern jazz idiom, breathing new life into Sweden’s folk heritage and making it resonate with audiences around the world.
Drawing from his Scottish roots—his great-grandfather was a violinist in the BBC Variety Orchestra in Glasgow—and Dominique’s passion for the Swedish folk music of Smolandia, He takes the audience on a vibrant journey. He shares how Scottish traditional music has influenced Swedish traditions, revealing unexpected connections and fascinating cultural exchanges.
