Have you suffered a bereavement?

The Let’s Talk (or Not) About Bereavement sessions are returning this November and December, offering a safe and supportive space for anyone struggling with loss.

Mondays, 1.15pm – 3.15pm
The Living Room at Stonehaven Community Centre (enter via Robert Street entrance)
November 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and December 1st, 8th

“I felt like I had lost my future.”
“I am not the same person, it changes you.”
“It’s difficult to function yet there is so much to do.”

If you find that the people around you aren’t sure what to say, or you’d like an opportunity to meet others who understand, come along for a cuppa, a fine piece, and a chat.

These sessions are free and open to all, thanks to funding from the Co-op. The Living Room space is fully accessible, with disabled parking and an accessible WC.

There’s no timescale on grief — and no “right” way to feel.

“When you experience loss it’s a very individual response. People say things like ‘time’s a great healer’ or ‘it will get easier as the days pass’ — or they say nothing at all…”

The sessions aren’t counselling or therapy; they’re simply a chance to be with others who understand what you’re going through. You can share your feelings — or simply sit in silence — and know you’re not alone.

One participant described their experience: “The sessions have been a life saver. I now understand grief a bit more, am coming to terms with my loss and am beginning to adjust to my new circumstances.”

Another attendee shared: “Attending was almost against my better judgment. Everything felt too raw and I couldn’t imagine it would help – but it did, and I’m glad I came. It’s nice to speak to others going through the same as me. My emotional turmoil is a little more normalised.”

It’s not easy stepping through that door for the first time — especially if you’re newly bereaved and finding it hard to face the world. But as the team behind Let’s Talk (or Not) About Bereavement say, “We understand.”

These sessions offer a comforting space to share, listen, and heal together. Whether you choose to talk or not, you’ll be met with warmth, understanding, and community.
