Friends of Forest Drive park plan to do some Tree Planting this Sunday (30th) weather permitting from 10am if anyone is able to volunteer some time.
They have been successful in getting 315 small copse trees from the Woodland Trust and plan to put in 2 small Hedgerows to help increase biodiversity, encourage more insects, wildlife species and small birds to the area.
It may take a few sessions to get this done but the council have kindly turned over the ground so we should be able to do slit planting with a spade – so much easier than the larger trees we have planted before.
The Committee Team will be there to help and provide guidance if needed.
They are asking any volunteers to bring a spade, gloves, wear suitable footwear and wrap up warm.
A first aider will be on site if needed and they will get volunteers to read and sign the Risk Assessment.
