Energy Topics Dominate Community Council Agenda

By bellmannews / January 9, 2026

AN energy infrastructure survey, Bowdun Offshore Windfarm, the Hurlie 400kV substation, community benefits and a political howl of protest about the impact of renewable energy infrastructure will all be aired and discussed when Stonehaven and District Community Council, SDCC, meet on Tuesday.

The North East Scotland Convention of Community Councils met in Stonehaven Town Hall last October. The meeting was convened by Cllr. Tracey Smith. Representatives from 38 community councils were joined by Douglas Lumsden MSP and Andrew Bowie MP. After discussing the extent and challenges of renewable infrastructure projects, they agreed a statement calling for the Scottish Government to pause developments, create an independent commission to look at impacts and develop a national strategy for our renewable generation – the full text can be accessed using the following download link:

SDCC meet in the former Court room of the Sheriff Court Building on Tuesday January 13. The meeting can also be joined online using the Zoom link below the agenda.
