Supermarkets in Spotlight at Community Council

By bellmannews / May 11, 2026

FOLLOWING last week’s submission of a planning application for two retail units at Ury Estate – Aldi and M&S – representatives of the developers/retailers will make a presentation at tomorrow evening’s meeting of Stonehaven and District Council, SDCC.

That may prove to be the pleasing and positive part of the evening’s discussions. Further down the agenda is the notifiction of a procession to commemorate the Battle of the Boyne. At their last meeting, SDCC agreed to make a formal objection to the event on the grounds of community concerns, including health and safety considerations, risk of damage to property and disruption to community life. No doubt there will be some unhappy comment about Aberdeenshire Council’s licensing sub-committee’s decision to agree to the march taking place with conditions.

SDCC meet in the Old Court House of the Sheriff Court Building at 7pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend and may contribute to the meeting at the chair’s discretion. The full agenda is below, followed by a Zoom link to the meeting.

SDCC is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
