Tesco Supermarket – latest planning application

By Joyce Esson / June 8, 2026

THE following planning application was validated during the week beginning Monday 1st June at Aberdeenshire Council’s Viewmount office.

This is the second application for a Tesco supermarket at New Mains of Ury. According to the supporting planning statement the previous application was refused because of the potential cumulative impact of two main food grocery stores on Stonehaven town centre. However, the Ury Estate site is now being progressed as an Aldi / M&S food hall, therefore Tesco would be the only major main- food proposal.

The site is shown here in a screenshot from the application.

An impression of the proposed store is also taken directly from the application.
