PROGRESS or otherwise on Aberdeenshire Council’s decision a community group should operate the beach toilets will be one of the topics under discussion at this week’s meeting of Stonehaven and District Community Council, SDCC, when it meets on Tuesday evening.
Earlier this year, Molly’s Cafe Bar owner Janice Langdon petitioned the Business Services Committee of Aberdeenshire Council asking them to reconsider the 2016 decision to close the seafront conveniences.
At their meeting in June – despite the petition form stating there was no volunteer capacity to run the toilets – the councillors on that committee voted to direct the area office team to work with community groups to re-open them.
A meeting to this end was held at Viewpoint last week with representatives of both the SDCC and the Stonehaven Town Partnership, STP, in attendance. The Bellman understands the outcome is the toilet doors will remain locked and the local authority will provide improved finger signs telling visitors where to go. No doubt the SDCC members who were at the meeting will provide a full update on the discussions.
Aspen Wind Farm
Our community groups have had a busy spell with again both SDCC and STP amongst others being invited to a community investment workshop hosted by Cerulean Winds – the developers behind the Aspen Offshore Wind Farm, which will connect to the grid at Fetteresso. The agenda indicates a report on this workshop will be provided.
All are welcome to attend the meeting in person. Full details and the agenda are below.
