THE first pint of Festival Ale has been poured and local musicians are in action at this year’s festival bar run by the Stonehaven Lions.

A special Festival Ale by local brewer Six Degrees North is just one of the attractions at this year’s fund-raising event. As always, all proceeds will make their way back to local charities and good causes.

Entertainment started this evening around 5pm and will continue to almost midnight. Tomorrow, Saturday, entertainment starts at 2pm and continues to 11.45pm.

Shiltrum, Moonglow, Shoogly Peg, Trybe, Shenanigans and the Arthur Coates Trio will take the stage both days. There will also be opportunities for open stage performances. And on Saturday at 3pm, the Lyndsay School of Dance will bring some highland dance energy.

One new feature for this year is a road closure, which is hoped to make the entertainment both safer and more pleasurable for the watching crowd. There is a turning area and residents and harbour users will still have access.

Lions Steven McQueen and Janice Langdon are pictured pulling the first Festival Ales of the weekend.
