From Jacky Niven of KDP –
KINCARDINESHIRE Development Partnership (KDP) are thrilled to announce the launch of their Supporting Communities Fund for Kincardine and Mearns.
They are making £36,000 available to community groups throughout the area who are currently responding to the COVID19 crisis.
On 18th March, the Scottish Government announced an investment of £350 million to support local communities and households in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This funding has been established as part of this investment package to provide financial support targeted through community anchor organisations, working in partnership with others in the community and with public services, in co-ordinating local responses to the pandemic.
KDP are delighted to have secured £3,000 for each of the 12 Community Council areas across K&M.
Jacky Niven, Development Officer for KDP, said: “We at KDP have been moved by the community response to the crisis: they didn’t wait for an instruction, they mobilised, assessed the community need and within days set up and coordinated support for the isolated and vulnerable…”
She added: “It is important that we do what we can to ensure this level of support and enthusiasm can continue as this situation rolls on and it is hoped that this injection of cash at this time will help this activity remain sustainable for as long as our communities need them.”
The fund will be launched on Wednesday 3rd June 2020 until mid-August or until all funds are allocated. Groups can apply for funds to help support COVID19 related activities.
