Scottish Schools Tennis
The Mackie Academy boys’ tennis team won their first-round competition against Robert Gordon’s College with a resounding 6-0 win.  The next round is against the High School of Dundee, and we wish them all the best.  Congratulations to (from left to right) Daniel Tibbetts, Ryan Doherty, Lewis Findlay, and Oliver Warner.

Netball Scottish Cup
The Scottish Cup journey continues for the Senior Girls netball team at Mackie Academy.  They capped off the Aberdeenshire section final with a hard-won win against Aberdeen Grammar School and next up are the winners of the Angus section final.  We wish them all the best for their future competitions.

FutureChef Regional Final Winner
In early February 2022 the Springboard FutureChef Regional Final was held in Elgin, Moray.

Seven students from across North Scotland battled it out over 90 minutes to secure the ‘top spot’ and go to London to represent North Scotland at the FutureChef National Final on Monday, 14th March 2022. The winner, by a unanimous decision, was Phoebe Lawson from Mackie Academy

Graeme Strachan who is the Careers, Education and Employability Programme Delivery Manager for Springboard said,
I was delighted to hear the judges say that Phoebe has won. Over the many years Kirsty Wilson has supported FutureChef (as well as Rotary Young Chef) and is one very proactive teacher as far as the competitions are concerned. I absolutely get that the teachers are very busy, but Kirsty always supports the students, and that support has paid off big time this year.”

In March 2022 Phoebe and Kirsty Wilson, Phoebe’s Home Economics teacher, will attend the National Final in London and we wish her all the best in the upcoming competition.

Well done Phoebe from all at Mackie Academy and Aberdeenshire.
