Stonehaven Folk Festival Finally Gets the Go-Ahead

After months of uncertainty, the 32nd Stonehaven Folk Festival is definitely going ahead from July 8-10 2022.  Tickets are now on sale and have already been sold across Scotland and the UK, plus Germany, the USA and Israel. Festival Chairman, Martin Kasprowicz, says this will be an exciting return of the Festival after a two-year absence. The organisers have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the Festival will continue to build on its reputation of being the “Friendly Festival”

“For the Main Stage we have an impressive line up of first class acts with huge international reputations, that includes; Flook – whose latest album “Ancora” is nominated for Best Album in the Radio 2 Folk Awards, The multi award winning, Rura, will showcase their new album –“Our Voices Echo” on Saturday 9th July. Shooglenifty – whose latest Album “Acid Croft” was described by Colin Irwin of Mojo as having ““A zest and zeal that lives up to their reputation as modernisers of traditional Scottish Music.” Will close the concerts on the main stage on Sunday 10th July.

There will be the usual array of fringe events over the weekend that will include workshops, the World Paper ’n’ Comb Championships, Free Concerts in the Square, the Tradition Bearers Concert, and the world famous ‘Aqua Ceilidh’ held in the towns Open Air Art Deco pool.

There will be something for everybody as the Festival buzz returns to Stonehaven.

The Festival Organisers are also pleased to say they have received confirmation of a grant from Events Scotland to help with re-establishing the Stonehaven Folk Festival post COVID. Also 2022 has been designated as the Year of Stories by Visit Scotland and the festival are delighted to be taking part in this celebration of the spoken word.

Stonehaven Folk Festival is organised by a dedicated group of volunteers. It was established in 1989 and apart from the “Covid Years” has been an annual event in Stonehaven.
