Twelve Local Groups Benefit from Wind Farm Community Fund

Earlier this month the Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm Community Fund awarded a total of £13,238.48 to a range of local groups and projects in the area of benefit.

Successful applicants included Milltown Community – £2140; Catterline Community Church – £1390; Catterline, Kinneff & Dunnottar Community Council – £749.50; HomeStart Kincardine – £268.98; Marykirk Outdoor Bowling Club – £692; St Laurence Football Club – £1540; Memorial Park Group – £1740; Stonehaven Folk Club – £1000; 1297 Stonehaven Squadron Air Cadets – £800; Mearns Community Radio – £1000; Kincardine & Mearns Youth Clubs – £1358 and Stonehaven Horizon Project – £560.

Fern Community Funds, a leading independent renewable energy developer, established the Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Benefit Fund to support local groups and projects. Funding is available for the benefit of the communities living in the Community Council areas of Arbuthnott; Mearns; Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar; Stonehaven and District. Administered by Kincardineshire Development Partnership (KDP), applications to the fund are assessed by a Decision-Making panel made up of representatives from all four Community Council areas. The fund is available annually for the lifetime of the wind farm which is provided by current owners Octopus Investments.

The Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Fund will reopen on 1st April 2023.
