A COMMUNITY event at the Tolbooth Museum this Saturday 11th March from 12 noon to 3.30pm will give members of the public an opportunity to look round the museum, see plans of its possible extension and discuss the recent Community Asset Transfer, CAT, application.
The volunteers, who run the museum, hope to take ownership of the Tolbooth, the oldest building in Stonehaven – Stonehaven Tolbooth Association made their CAT application to Aberdeenshire Council last month.
Planning permission exists for extension
In 2016, the Association obtained Planning Permission for an extension to the Tolbooth building to create a larger exhibition area and cafe. Funding is required for this extension – and for essential maintenance work.
The extension project has stalled however as the current short-term lease agreement with the local authority prohibits the volunteers from seeking grants as funders demand either a long-term lease or ownership of the building.
The consultation event at the Tolbooth on Saturday will give members of the public a chance to see the proposals in more detail and discuss them with the volunteers.
