A MACKIE Academy pupil won this year’s Rotary Young Scottish Chef competition held in Perth on Saturday.
Sixteen-year-old Sarah Smart was representing the North East of Scotland in the competition sponsored by Filippo Berio – giving entrants the chance to put their culinary skills to the test and be judged by leading industry professionals.
The gastronomic challenge offers young chefs an opportunity to plan and cook a three course meal, develop their food presentation skills and gain experience in high pressure situations.
Sharing Sarah’s delight at winning is her home economics teacher Kirsty Wilson.
She said: ”I couldn’t be more proud. It is such a fantastic achievement.”
Now, as Scottish champion, Sarah will be heading down to Alcester to compete in the UK and Ireland final on 29th April.
