THE proposed repairs to roads, footpaths, bridges, harbours, flood schemes and lighting in our area are on the agenda for this morning’s meeting of the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee.
Councillors will be asked to approve or comment on the identified works and activities prioritised by the Roads and Infrastructure Service for delivery – using both capital and revenue funding schemes.
The report detailing the spend follows the setting of the Shire’s budget by the full council in March.
And it appears the service may have had its budgets cut. The report states: ”The substantially decreased levels of funding for planned road resurfacing and surface dressing will see the percentage of the network receiving a new or enhanced road surface decrease. One consequence of this is that the amount of road patching that will be carried out in this and future years will increase. In short, there will be a shift in focus in road maintenance from planned work to reactive work.”
If you want to see if your pot-holed street is on the schedule, then you can check the appendix to the report which is detailed and available online.
The Area Committee meets in the Viewmount Chamber at 9.30am. A recording of the meeting will be posted on YouTube in due course.
