Roads Repairs Prioritised

ABERDEENSHIRE Council’s roads department has set out is plans for road maintenance over the next year in a report to be considered by the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee, when it meets tomorrow.

Bridges, harbours and coast and flooding spends are also detailed in the breakdown of revenue and capital budget allocations. A dynamic approach is now taken to repairs, so projects included are a current priority listing rather than a fixed scope of works.

And according to the prioritised list for Kincardine and Mearns, the Arduthie Road and outside the Station Hotel is number one for resurfacing works. The Beachfront, which is reckoned to need just over £100,000 spent on it is sitting at number 10 in the queue. Appendix C of the report at item 6 on the agenda gives the full list.

There is a word of caution for pothole-dodging drivers. The report states: ”Another year of decreased levels of funding for planned road resurfacing and surface dressing will see the percentage of the network receiving a new or enhanced road surface decrease again. One consequence of this is that, proportionally, the amount of road patching that will be carried out in this and future years will increase.”

The Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee meets at 9.30 am tomorrow (Tuesday) morning in the Viewmount chamber. The meeting is open to the public.
